Art South Asia Project (ASAP) are partnering with Asia Art Archive in India (AAAI) to host “Assembling Art Archives: Workshops for South Asia”, a 10 month long online programme on archiving within the field of modern and contemporary art from South Asia. The first of its kind in the region, this programme hopes to foster learning and exchange of methods, frameworks, and infrastructural techniques for the building of art archives, with sessions facilitated by archivists working in diverse institutional contexts across the global south and beyond.
“Assembling Art Archives” is designed and catered to participants working within arts organisations and institutions, artist estates and studios, and independent arts spaces in the region. Scheduled to commence in August 2025, the programme will consist of a maximum of 20 participants selected via Open Call from the countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The online programme will be accompanied by an in-person gathering in Nepal in November 2025.
